Today we investigated chemical reactions in the Orange Classroom. The 3rd and 4th Class created a chemical reaction by mixing an acid (vinegar mixed with food colouring) with an alkali (bicarbonate of soda).
Can you see the bubbles of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) below? That is a gas. The boys and girls learned that an alkali like bicarbonate of soda, reacts or changes when it mixes with an acid like vinegar because they are very different.
