We have started Literacy Power Hour In 1st and 2nd Class.


Power Hour is a literacy based hour which is being used to teach literacy in 1st and 2nd classes.  This is done through station teaching. We have 4 stations - 2 reading stations, 1 handwriting station and 1 station which deals with word work i.e. spellings, phonics, grammar etc. 
Power Hour takes place three times weekly in 1st and 2nd classes.

Graded readers

Our fifth and sixth class are enjoying reading Guns of Easter, Nelson Mandella - an easy walk to freedom and The White Horse.

Buddy reading

Buddy reading began this morning, the children in the middle room each have a buddy in the senior room who will listen to them practice their reading for ten minutes each day during the next six weeks!

Novel work

Our 4th - 6th class are working in novel groups again this term, taking it in turns to have a different comprehension role each day!
