The purple classroom were delighted to receive four new ipads from Mrs. Gannon yesterday morning.
These ipads were donated by Ollies grandparents Mr & Mrs Bradie and their friends Mr & Mrs Meros. The boys can't wait to try them out, thank you very much!

Digital school of distinction
We received fantastic news this morning - following our application and assessment last month..... we are delighted to announce that Burncourt NS is now one of the 140 Digital schools of distinction in Ireland!
The Digital Schools of Distinction Award is an award programme launched by Minister Quinn in 2013 which promotes, recognises and encourages best practice in the use of technology in primary schools. This initiative is sponsored by HP Ireland and Microsoft Ireland. As a result of achieving this award, our school will receive a wireless printer and free printing for the year!
This award has been developed to help schools to further integrate technology into the classrooms by providing a pathway and resources for schools who are seeking to integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into their teaching and learning.
This award recognises the time effort and money in the development of a digital culture in Burncourt NS and the development of both pupils and teachers digital literacy.
The use of technology in Burncourt NS is evident in each classroom as a tool to enhance the childrens learning and equip them to become lifelong learners.
We will hold an awards ceremony next month where we will unveil our new Digital schools of distinction plaque.

Mystery skype

A few weeks ago we held a mystery skype with Mrs. O' Haras 5th and 6th grade class in Bullington, Ontario Canada. Their school is near Toronto and Niagra falls!
We each got to ask each other 20 questions to find out where each others school was on the map, by mind mapping and using our laptops to help. We also sang our national anthems to each other ...click the link below to look at their school blog that mentions our school! (and hello to everyone in Burlington reading this!)

Thank you!
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported our last Cash for Clobber clothes collection - because of everyones huge effort filling the bags with recycled clothes we have been able to buy an Ipad mini (with a shock proof case!) for our infant classroom! We hope to run another clothes collection for an ipad for the middle room before the summer holidays!
